So God Made a Farmer

We, at the Machine Shed, were all so moved by ’So God Made a Farmer’ commercial created by Ram Trucks that aired last night.

Mike Whalen, CEO and owner of the Machine Shed restaurant comments:  “We are dedicated to the American Farmer.  That dedication meant that we worked hard to have a restaurant that wasn’t just “farm themed” but would be something that farmers could be proud of.  The spirit and courage of these men and women live on, we are proud to salute the American farmer.”

  • My family also was very touched by hearing Paul Harvey’s “So God Made a Farmer” which was aired with the Super Bowl. I recall hearing Paul Harvey recite it years ago. We had a similar reading to honor farmers read at my father’s funeral a few years ago, as he was a deeply rooted farmer his entire life, taking over at a young age when his dad and brother died. We were thrilled Ram was a part of the Super Bowl ads and that they chose this special poem. Perhaps it can be displayed in all the “Machine Shed” restaurants!!!…good dedication to farmers along with good food! and with out such good meals famers can’t do as good a job!

I’m not really a sports fan, so I watched the Supperbwl for the commecials. when the shot with Paul Harvey came on it hit me right in the heart. I live in the farming county of Floyd, Virginia. I know these people Paul talked of. Their life s not easy, yet they have the most wonderful outlook on life. We all have a mornng meeting at the local gathering place, Smith Store, around the wood stove, in Copper Hill (pop 475). God bless you for your reverence of the farmer. PS though not born there I’m a Gray from Ottumwa (on my Father side).
